I Asked Men for GH¢100 to Save My Sick Sister – Dulcie Boateng Recounts Emotional Struggle

 Dulcie Boateng

Ghanaian entrepreneur and influencer Dulcie Boateng has opened up about a painful moment in her life when she had to seek financial help from men to save her sick sister.

Speaking at the Empower Vault Summit 2026 on March 11, 2026, Dulcie shared how difficult life was for her and her family at the time. She explained that she was only 19 years old and struggling financially while pursuing her studies.

“I was only nineteen years old and I was financially down. My parents and brothers were also broke. My sister was extremely sick, and at that time, I was writing my final exams in level 400,” she said.

According to her, the situation became even more heartbreaking when her mother called her in tears, explaining that there was no money for her sister’s medical treatment.

“All I could think about was the fact that she was in a hospital and she was dying. My mother once called me crying. She said she doesn't have money, and my sister was dying,” she stated.

Dulcie said the news left her shaken because she had no idea how to raise the money needed for the treatment.

“I started shaking because what was I supposed to do? I didn't have money and we were all the same,” she shared.

With no other option, she decided to reach out to several men she believed were interested in her, hoping they could help financially.

“I’m so terrible at asking for money, but I didn’t have a choice. I decided to ask all the boys I thought liked me, but they all asked me to come to their houses,” she recounted.

She explained that many of them wanted her to visit them before offering any help, which made the situation even more uncomfortable for her.

“For GH¢100 and they wanted me to go to their houses? It was a lot of people I had to talk to before one person agreed to send me something,” she noted.

Dulcie added that the value of the money at the time was enough to cover some of the urgent needs.

“The dollar rate was not as terrible as it is today, so the GH¢100 actually did a lot of things,” she said.

She also revealed that during that period, she was working in a nightclub while studying in school, which made life even more challenging.

“I met all these men because I was working in a club while in school. I would go to class straight from the club and I would be sleeping,” she shared.

According to Dulcie, many people often misunderstand women who work in clubs, assuming they are easily accessible.

“These men we meet in the club think because you're there, you're easy and accessible, and they can have you,” she added.

Her story has since sparked conversations online, with many people praising her for opening up about her struggles and the difficult choices she had to make during that period of her life.
