The Ghana Police Service has arrested 45-year-old Isaac Boafo, also known as “Duabo King,” for allegedly publishing false information intended to cause fear and panic among the public.
According to a press release from the Ashanti Regional Police Command dated March 1, 2026, the arrest followed a viral TikTok video in which Boafo claimed that four officers at the Central Police Station in Kumasi engaged in inappropriate conduct with commercial sex workers during night patrols at Asafo. The police confirmed these claims were false.
Officers from the Police Intelligence Directorate (Ashanti Region) acted on intelligence and apprehended Boafo, who admitted to posting the video. He told investigators he is a social media content creator and made the allegations solely to attract views and online engagement. He also admitted he could not provide any evidence to support his claims.
The suspect reportedly made additional remarks about the President of the Republic for content creation purposes, which he could not defend. Boafo has been formally charged and is currently in detention to assist with further investigations.
The Ghana Police Service cautioned the public against circulating false information on social media, noting it can cause unnecessary fear, panic, and reputational damage. Authorities warned that anyone found publishing false news will face legal consequences.
The press release was signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Ashanti Region.
