People Want Me Broke – Peller Reacts to N395M Lawsuit and Benin Palace Controversy

Popular TikTok creator and livestreamer, Hamzat Habeeb Adelaja, widely known as Peller, has finally addressed the growing controversies surrounding his alleged unauthorised visit to the palace of Oba Ewuare II and a staggering N395 million lawsuit filed against him.

Speaking during a recent livestream, the young content creator denied any wrongdoing, insisting that he had no knowledge of violating any rules and was simply following instructions.

The first controversy dates back to March 6, 2026, when Peller reportedly visited the Benin Palace. The Benin Traditional Council later described the visit as a serious breach of palace protocol and a desecration of sacred grounds.

According to the council, Peller and his team allegedly entered the palace without proper authorisation. The incident quickly escalated, leading to disciplinary actions within the palace.

Reports indicate that a chief was suspended, a palace staff member was arrested and prosecuted, and a queen who appeared in related content could also face sanctions.

The council has since summoned Peller to appear before its committee and submit a written apology. They also warned that legal action could be taken if he fails to comply.

Reacting to the allegations, Peller maintained that he had no intention of disrespecting the palace or its traditions.

“My manager asked me to go to the Oba of Benin’s palace. I didn’t know about any protocols. I greeted everyone respectfully. My hands are clean,” he said.

He explained that he was unaware of the strict customs governing access to the palace and relied entirely on his team’s direction.

As if the palace controversy wasn’t enough, Peller is also facing a massive N395 million lawsuit filed by Lagos resident, Osarobo Odigie.

In a pre-action notice through her lawyers, Odigie accused the TikTok star of defamation, cyber harassment, invasion of privacy, and emotional distress. The claims stem from an alleged incident at a lounge in Lekki, where Peller reportedly recorded and shared a video of a confrontation without her consent.

The lawsuit breaks down the damages as follows:

N200 million for defamation

N100 million for emotional trauma

N75 million for cyberbullying

N20 million for legal expenses

Responding to the legal battle, Peller admitted that he does not have the financial capacity to meet such demands. He also appealed for understanding, noting that he had already issued an apology.

“I don’t have that kind of money. It feels like people want me to go broke. I’m begging; I’m just a young person who needs guidance,” he said.

With pressure mounting from both the Benin Traditional Council and the lawsuit, Peller’s situation remains uncertain. His next steps—whether appearing before the palace committee or responding legally to the lawsuit—could determine the outcome of these controversies.

For now, the young content creator continues to seek sympathy and understanding, as the incidents spark wider conversations about respect for tradition, digital responsibility, and the consequences of viral fame.
