Ghanaian actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown has encouraged women to follow their passions and trust their instincts instead of limiting themselves because of academic qualifications.

She gave the advice while speaking at the fourth edition of the Women of Valour event in London on March 7, 2026.

According to McBrown, people should not feel restricted by the certificates they hold. She urged women to pursue what their hearts truly desire, even if it is different from what they studied in school.

Choose that thing your heart desires, that thing your instincts are pushing you to do. Don't feel like, “I have a certificate, so I can't be doing an MC job because I'm a PhD holder.

The popular television host used her own life as an example to explain that success does not always depend on academic qualifications.

McBrown openly revealed that she does not have formal certificates but has still been able to build a successful career and work with several major brands in Ghana.

I have no certificate, but I work with 14 big brands in Ghana. Aside from being on TV for good money, I also earn well from the side.

She further advised women to believe in themselves and follow their instincts when making life decisions.

So please, ladies, I beg you, listen to your feelings and stamp it with your instincts,” McBrown said.
